Ash & Earth memorial panels are one-of-a-kind plaster artworks infused with a small portion of cremated remains, creating a luminous, lasting piece that honors the spirit and character of your beloved companion.
Natural lime plaster with earth pigments, hand-applied and finished to create a luminous, textured surface that catches the light beautifully.
Your favorite photo is printed and mounted 1/8” above the plaster surface, creating a striking 3D effect with depth, shadow, and presence.
Just two tablespoons of ashes are gently folded into the plaster — a sacred, permanent part of the artwork that carries their essence forward.
No two memorials are ever the same. Every piece is shaped by the life it honors.
Fill out our short commission form with your details, photo, and panel preferences. Payment is collected in full to begin your piece.
You'll mail approximately two tablespoons of ashes in a sealed ziplock bag, boxed securely. We provide full shipping instructions.
Matt hand-applies natural plaster, folds in the ashes, and mounts your photo — completing your memorial within 2–3 weeks of receiving them.
Your panel is wrapped securely in bubble wrap and boxed for safe nationwide shipping — ready to hang and honor your loved one.
Every Ash & Earth memorial is crafted by hand by Matt DeBenedetto, a lifelong plaster artisan with over 35 years of experience who believes that remembrance deserves something more meaningful than an urn or a shelf.
For Matt, this work is not simply construction — it is a quiet collaboration between earth, memory, and craftsmanship, creating a place where love can remain present long after goodbye.
"I've been working with plaster for 35 years. When the idea came to me, it felt right immediately. Every piece I make carries a piece of someone's heart."
Ash & Earth is just getting started — and already making an impact for pet families around the world.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I mailed Sasha's ashes all the way from Australia — but what arrived was beyond anything I imagined. It's not just art. It's her.
The texture, the warmth of the plaster, the way the photo seems to float above the surface — it's exactly what I hoped for. Something I can touch every day and feel close to him.
I told Matt I love animals and I wanted something I could look at and touch. He delivered something sacred. This is what a living memory looks like.
Ash & Earth was born from a love of animals. That's why a portion of every commission goes directly to support local animal rescue organizations — helping the animals still waiting for their forever homes.
This isn't a corporate pledge. It's personal. Matt gives because this work only exists because of the bond between people and their pets.
"The families who come to me have already lost someone they love. The least I can do is make sure this work gives something back to the animals still out there."
